Agriculture is the practice of cultivation of soil for growing crops and rearing of animals for the production of food, goods, wool, fibers etc. It involves a variety of techniques to apply package of practices of different crops to get optimum output. It is a very crucial branch of study as it directly related to the food security and economy of the country. In the area of agriculture extension, an effort has been made to retain relevant core concepts, however new topics and also new courses has been added to infuse new blood in the area. The sustainable use of land resources has emerged as the latest area of attention in the field of agriculture. Due to this change of trend of farming from traditional to modern form, the requirement for trained professionals in the field of agriculture has increased. The course is meant to provide the candidates with detail knowledge in the practices and techniques of farming and allied sectors. More emphasis is given on organic farming and use of modern instrumental methods of farming. The latest crop plantation methodology is taught to the candidates. A candidate who has completed course in the agriculture can get number of opportunities in various central or state agriculture, horticulture, soil and forestry departments, and institutes as well as in universities. Students also have a scope in marketing in private agriculture related firms and industries, banking sector, or could become a professional farmer to set his/her own business by adopting new technologies. Faculty members are available as academic advisers and hold office hours for consultation about their courses.

Two day Flower Show organised by Department of Agriculture and Botany, atGovt. Mohindra College Patiala. In which 12 Students of B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture 6th Sem. had participated in various events and won second prize in cut flower category.

National Science Day

One day National Science day was celebrated under the theme ‘Science for Betterment of Humanity’, in which Students of B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture 6th Sem. had won 2nd prize in working and non-working models.

Workshop on career awareness for Science graduates -2018

Students of B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture 6th Sem had won 1st  prize in working and non-working models.

National Conference
