Food Technology deals with all technical aspects of foods, beginning with harvesting or slaughtering,and ending with its cooking and consumption F("from field to fork"). Food science is a highly
interdisciplinary applied science. It incorporates concepts from many different fields including microbiology, chemical engineering, and biochemistry.Food technology is advancing towards low-cost effective technologies, utilization of indigenous raw materials, bio-friendly processes with emphasis on integrated technology and high level pursuit for total technology with underpinning of food safety, health and nutrition to all sections of the population. The department has signed MOU with Riddet Institute, Massey University, New Zealand.

Dr. Harjinder Singh, Distinguished Professor, Director Riddet Institute, New Zealand has visited university twice after the establishment of Food Processing Technology department and has delivered lectures. It will be a great opportunity for our students and Faculty to get more knowledge and guidance from the renowed faculty of Riddet Institute, Massey University, New Zealand.

1. Department have actively participated in National conference on ‘’ Emerging Horizons in Science and Technology’’ EHST-2014, and ‘’STEMM’’ 2014 which focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths and Medicine.

2. Department has organised invited lecture by Mr. J S Sandhu, Rettd. Senior Principal Scientist, CSIR-CFTRI, Mysore and Alternate Director, CFL, Mysore.

3. Department has organised various Food Plant Visits of the students, as this will add more practical knowledge and processing Techniques followed in food industries

4. A Visit to Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana was organised and Students visited their Labs and interacted with Faculty membersof PAU.
