SGGSWU Departments Department of Zoology

The Department of Zoology is one of the established departments in the university. The curriculum of courses has been well designed to provide the in depth knowledge of all the aspects of animal world. To provide the in hand training to students, regular visits are being organized to vermicomposting units, piggery, National museums, Instrumentation labs, wet lands and various wildlife sanctuaries. Being the subject of basic science, post graduate students of Zoology can opt for further research in zoology as well any other field of applied sciences. The courses run by the department provide opportunity to students to pursue research careers in renowned research labs. like PGI, CSIO, DRDO and various labs of DBT, CSIR and DST. Courses offer opportunities to aspirants in various other sectors also that include teaching positions in educational institutes, career opportunities in museums and wildlife sanctuaries.

To study the stepwise evolution of humans and dinosaurs through sculptures and pictures displayed there.

Visit to Central Instrumentation Lab. at CIL and Deptt. of Zoology, Panjab University, Chandigarh.

The visit was planned to provide in hand experience to various instruments like Scanning electron Microscope, Transmission electron microscope, High pressure liquid chromatography, Flow cytometer, PCR, RT-PCR, XRD, various types of centrifuges etc.

Visit to Chattbir Zoo

As a part of wildlife and management, this visit provided opportunity to students for studying wild fauna in their natural habitat.
