Since its inception in 2011, Department of Nanotechnology at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib has been at the forefront of cutting edge research in this intriguing domain. Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University is first of its kind in Punjab to start nanotechnology at under graduate level. The mission of Nanotechnology Department is to promote education in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology with potential applications towards fulfilling research needs.The faculty of Department has been actively engaged in developing nanomaterials for various applications to include environmental remediation and sensing of environmental pollutants. Department has received financial support worth Rs. one crore from various funding agencies of Government of India such as Science and Engineering Research Board and Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences (BRNS), Department of Atomic Energy. The Department is equipped with high end research related instruments like FTIR spectrophotometer, UV-Visible spectrophotometer, Simultaneous TG-DTA, High energy Ball milling, PL spectroscopy, Particle size analyser/Zetasizer, Muffle Furnace, and fluorescent microscope. Career opportunities exist in various areas such as Electronics / Semiconductor industry, Material Science including Textiles,Polymers, Auto and aerospace industries, Medical fields and Pharmaceuticals, Environmental Monitoring, Food Science, Forensics Military and National security, and Energy Capture and storage.
