Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib is a charitable and humanitarian project undertaken by the SGPC to impart higher education to learners belonging to all creeds, castes and religions. The University was set up in 2011to commemorate the historic event of 400th Anniversary of compilation and the first installation of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Situated at Fatehgarh Sahib, a place sanctified by the martyrdom of the younger Sahibzada’s of Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji – martyrdom which is nonpareil in the history of humankind – the University has evolved as a renowned institution of higher learning in the country in a short span of time.
With its mandate to focus on providing quality education, research and training in diverse fields which are of great contemporary relevance such as emerging technologies, basic, applied and medical sciences, Sikh religion, humanities, languages and physical education, the University offers a host of innovative programmes in these domains. The curricula designed for most programmes are interdisciplinary and encourage critical thinking. The pedagogic methods are geared towards providing interactive learning experience. Apart from this, the University provides spiritually and intellectually enriching and safe environment conducive to the growth of holistic personality of the learners. Engendering of moral and ethical values is an important aim that remains central to the academic life of the University.
The University Campus is a unique architectural marvel spread over 140 acres of land. All the labs are equipped with state of the art equipment. A canteen, hostel facilities, and transport facilities are available for those students who wish to commute daily from various places.
For inclusive education and for encouraging excellence in academic, extracurricular and sports fields, the University offers liberal scholarships to the learners.
