The Sri Guru Granth Sahib shines like a beacon of light for the entire world. Through it, the message of brotherhood and unity is conveyed to the entire world. It not only contains the teachings of the Sikh Gurus but also the compositions of Bhagat Saints from different regions, communities, and religions of India.

With the aim of promoting the history and teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee decided to open this university on the fourth centenary. The main purpose was to promote the history and teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.

The then Vice-Chancellor of the university, Dr. Gurmohan Singh Walia, decided to establish an Art Gallery here in the year 2013. Since modern generation and visual art have a greater impact and are long-lasting, he appointed Harpreet Singh Naz as an Artist at the University and tasked him with creating paintings related to Sikh Gurus and Sri Guru Granth Sahib and setting up a gallery to display them. This gallery was inaugurated by S. Avtar Singh Makkar, the then Founding Chancellor of the University and President of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Sri Amritsar Sahib.

This Art Gallery is in the ETC building of the university. It features watercolour paintings related to Sikh Gurus and their families. In addition to this, large oil paintings related to the history of Sikh Gurus and Sri Guru Granth Sahib have also been installed. The gallery also showcases paintings depicting the journeys of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, along with discussions and gatherings with various religious personalities. The gallery is expanding by creating pictures of Bhagat Saints and seasons paintings.

Dignitaries and special guests visiting the university are shown the gallery and are briefed about it. Apart from this, the students are also made aware of the history of Guru Sahib and Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
