Career Counselling Cell

One of the policy decisions in. the UGC XIth Plan provides for establishing Career  Counseling Cell in Universities. The objective is to support the students in the development of soft skills and communication ability to challenge the rigors of competitive tests and on-job-training in add-on or vocational courses. The Career Counselling Cell will address the diverse socio-economic challenges and geographic backgrounds of the heterogeneous population of students coming to the Colleges vis-à-vis equity of access and placement opportunities through availability of appropriate institutional support information

OBJECTIVES

• to help the students redefine their passion in their career, develop essential employability skills and strategies
•  to understand different competitive examination related to job opportunities in current market scenario.
• to address social disparities and career opportunities that education has to offer
• to develop a support to enhance the reach and scope of available opportunities for the students and prepare them for the future challenges.

BENEFITS TO THE STDUENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY

• It will enable the students to get over their social institutions and exclusivity, which are attributed to their socio-economic and cultural diversities and linguistic barriers.
• Will addresses both the academic and the career concerns and opportunities.
• The inculcation of guidance about market patterns and employability can help the institution in building a base for its students. This exercise will result in their socioeconomic integration.
• help the students with appropriate guidance to establish linkages with the world of work and locate career opportunities vis à-vis the realities and job profiles in the context of highly competitive emerging occupational patterns

• will helps the students realize their strengths and weaknesses by instilling self awareness, decision making skills, planning skills, personality development etc.
• will provide information about further course prerequisites, financial aid, academic planning, entrance examinations etc.
• help students by providing them with various career options and help them make informed decisions while they select a course based on their interest and aptitude.

This will enable the university to develop a connection with the students /schools and colleges of the region and also provide a database that can be utilized in admission process.

PROPOSED ACTIVITIES

• Information collection and dissemination services
• Organize seminars and guidance workshops for informing students about the emerging professional trends and events, job profiles, leadership roles, entrepreneurship, market needs and risks and implementation of national socioeconomic policies and to impart training in soft skills.
