Center for Scientific Research and Innovation

 

The Center for Scientific Research and Innovation (CSRI-SGGSWU) was constituted to promote innovative research and garner funding for research from various industrial and academic organizations. The center will also set up new incubator facilities for students, to turn the existing research being undertaken in various departments into their own entrepreneurship opportunities.

The CSRI-SGGSWU currently includes various departments carrying out active scientific research and will keep exploring research ventures and funding opportunities for other departments also.  The following departments of Faculty of Engineering & Technology and Faculty of Basic & Applied Sciences are part of the CSRI-SGGSWU:  

• Department of Biotechnology
• Department of Botany and Environmental Sciences
• Department of Computer Science
• Department of Chemistry
• Department of Nanotechnology
• Department of Physics
• Department of Zoology

In the next five years, the CSRI-SGGSWU plans to start several interdisciplinary research programs and incubator facilities, in collaboration with other departments of SGGSWU and other research/academic organizations at National/International level. The incubators are proposed to be set up in Agri-Biotechnology, Nano-Electronics, Food Processing, Food Preservation, Nano-biotechnological diagnostics, Computer applications etc.

           

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The University has recently signed an MOU with the Center for Innovation and Biodesign (CIBioD), PGIMER, Chandigarh for development of new innovative methods to enhance affordable and high throughput hospital and testing solutions. Several joint collaborative projects are proposed as part of this agreement in the next few years. All the departments running post-graduate courses will continue to work with special emphasis in developing student projects at post-graduate and Ph.D. level towards marketable products. The students will be working in the interdisciplinary set up under the University Faculty.

 

The CSRI-SGGSWU will provide the infrastructural support along with help in further development in promoting the products for commercial development in tie-up with private partnership. The following Faculty members of the University have been nominated to oversee the functioning of CSRI-SGGSWU:
