Department of English
The Department is committed to promoting research in English Literary Studies and enriching in-depth understanding of literature and improving language proficiency of the students. For holistic growth of the students’ personality, the Department organizes extra-curricular activities such as Quiz Contests, Seminars, Declamation Contests, Debates, Role-Acting, Drama, Extempore etc. on regular basis. The Department aims at providing a comprehensive, historical and methodological coverage of the entire spectrum of English Literary Studies, always ensuring to keep the doors open to new developments both within and outside the discipline. The Department is committed to polishing and refining the communication skills of the students of all the courses being offered by the University. This is to enable them to find gainful employment. The Department offers papers of contemporary relevance which include World literature, Indian Writing in English, Linguistics, Literary Theory, Diasporic Literature and the like. Masters in English ensures a variety of jobs in several spheres. The scope of teaching positions in the field of English language and linguistics in Indian educational institutions is on the rise.
