At Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, we believe in holistic development of the students coming from varied cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. The foundation of an effective teaching learning programme is laid in the form of a good curriculum where the expected learning outcomes, evaluation strategies and feedback mechanisms are in sync with each other. Educators at the university establish a conducive learning environment by integrating teaching strategies and aim at equipping the students with skill and knowledge necessary for successful and meaningful learning.

 

 

Academic resources to support students learning

SGGSWU has a comprehensive network of academic resources to facilitate students learning process. The expectations in terms of learning outcomes are specified by the educators.

  • Learning resources: The University Library offers a full range of resources and services to support all aspects of study. Librarians help students find the best print and electronic resources, and teach them the use se bibliographic software as well as other tools that help them to access the library. Book bank facilities are provided by the departments for help to needy students.
  • Academic advising: Academic advisors assist the students in exploring majors, preparing plans and devising schedules for learning process. Tutoring, workshops, academic coaching and more are provided to enhance learning of the students. Students are encouraged to make the best of the available resources at the campus and seek advice on specific academic matters from professors and peers in their particular areas of interest. Department heads, Deans, DSW and hostel wardens are available for academic advising and for counseling on matters pertaining to students’ life.

Promoting inclusion

Teaching practices at the university support meaningful learning for all students. The course is designed keeping inclusivity in mind; to expose students to fuller and varied perspectives of the content to be taught. While planning the transactional process, different learning styles of the students are taken into consideration. To recognize, accommodate and meet the learning needs of the diverse students, educators are approachable, proactive, and flexible, planned and adopt a humanistic approach in curriculum transaction.

Experiential learning

An effort is made at the university to enable students develop knowledge, skills and value from direct experiences outside the four boundaries of the classroom. It includes internship programs, research projects, industrial visits, excursions, community engagement programs, and field trips etc. These activities are well planned and supervised with an aim to promote engagement, interdisciplinary learning, civic responsibility and other skills.

ICT enabled teaching

The exponential growth of technology, computers and their integration into teaching learning process presents unprecedented opportunities for growth. Interactivity, flexibility and convenience provide great opportunities of collaboration and interaction to both teachers and learners. The classrooms are equipped with LED projectors. Language laboratories and other e resources are also utilized for effective teaching learning process. Online video lectures, webinar are also included for a wider learning experience.

Remedial instructions

Remedial instructions at individualized level are provided by teachers to students who need extra help for attaining desired learning outcomes. Special coaching and re exams are conducted for students whose performance needs improvement. Tutorial groups are utilized to provide special instructions to the students as per their needs.
