
Dr. Jasvirinder Singh Khattar, Ex-Professor and Ex-Dean of Life Sciences at Punjabi University, Patiala, serves as the University Ombudsperson with a distinguished record of academic leadership and integrity. A renowned Botanist with specialization in cyanobacterial physiology, environmental microbiology, and biotechnology, he has over three decades of experience in teaching, research, and academic administration.
Over the years, Dr. Khattar has held several key positions at Punjabi University, including Member of the Senate, Syndicate, Finance Committee, and Head of the Department of Botany. His broad institutional experience, commitment to fairness, and deep understanding of academic processes make him ideally suited to uphold transparency, address grievances, and strengthen trust within the university community.
An accomplished researcher with 66 publications, an edited book, and multiple funded research projects, Dr. Khattar also brings a culture of ethical practice and professionalism to his role.
